In this little corner of the world I get lost in creativity; a craft project, an article or just in thought.

4 Leaf Clover Charm Tutorial

For this charm you will need the following items:

  • Bottle Cap
  • air dry modeling clay
  • green marker
  • antique gold embossing powder
  • EnviroTex Lite, pour -on, high gloss finish
  • E600 glue
  •  alcohol ink;  butterscotch
  •  1 metal bead (attaches to the bottle cap)

  •  1 green rhinestone circles or color of choice

Tools needed to complete the charm as shown:

    • heat gun
    • glue
    • glue gun (optional)
    • Q-tip
With fairly small pieces of the modeling clay, create 4 leaf shapes and a stem. Clay can be a green color or white.
Position the clay leaves and stem inside the bottle cap. Press them down, enough so that they attach themselves to the cap without moving.
With a white glue, cover the areas of the cap bottom that are now exposed surrounding the 4 leaf clover.
Sprinkle the embossing powder over the glue areas. Turn cap upside down and shake off excess.
A Q-tip will come in handy about now to brush off unwanted powder that has stuck on the clover.

Try to focus the heat gun on the areas with the embossing powder. Apply the heat for as little as possible to prevent damage to the clover.

Use a green marker to color over the clover.
Place metal bead on a piece of scrap paper to protect your surface. Allow a few drops of the butterscotch alcohol ink to fall on the metal bead.

Roll the bead around and put enough ink drops on until you have the desired coverage of color on your bead. Here I was hoping for an antique gold look.

Secure the bead onto the outside of the bottle cap at the top of clover using E600 glue or your favorite metal adhesive like shown in the pictures below.
Prepare the EnviroTex mixture as directed in the instructions. For the small amount needed only 2 teaspoons of each solution was mixed together.
Pour the frothy looking solution into the bottle cap. Fill to the rim.

Soon you will notice the liquid starting to clear up. At this point I took a green rhinestone and placed it in the center of the clover. Do not push gem down if you want it to protrude slightly out of the clear "glass".
Be careful not to touch the liquid before it is thoroughly dry as it will become marked and unfix-able.

At this point you can make a decision as to how you want to use this piece. You can make it into a magnet, a charm, a pin, or a necklace.
