In this little corner of the world I get lost in creativity; a craft project, an article or just in thought.

How to make a K-cup holder by recycling an oatmeal container

Do you own K-cup machine and still without a K-cup holder? You can change that situation without splurging or waiting in hopes that someone will buy you one for a future present.

In fact, your handmade K-cup holder will be the better than a store bought one, for two reasons. The first reason being is that not only does this dispenser hold K-cups but it also has a compartment to hold sugar packets. The other awesome thing about this holder is that it is totally customizable to your likes and needs!

The quote reads, "where ever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine." I crossed off the word "sunshine" and wrote in larger letters the word "coffee".

Trace a circle around the top of a k-cup. Cut out the circle.

Use the circle to trace a bunch of circles around the oatmeal container. Using a large oatmeal container you can get 12 circles spaced apart as shown in the picture. Keep the circle shapes on the upper half of the container.

Poke a hole in the center of the circles. From the hole make lines going to the edge of the shape.

Cut the on the lines from the hole to the circle edge. Bend the cardboard points in.

Leaving at least 1 1/2" from the bottom, make a rectangle the height of the tuna fish can and length of the can diameter.

After cutting out the rectangle, try inserting the tuna fish can into the opening. Make adjustments if needed. The can needs to fit in the hole snugly while still being able to slide out for access to the sugar. You don't want to push the can in all way because then it will fall inside the oatmeal container.

If desired you make another compartment using a tuna fish can on the opposite side of the container. This is another way to customize!

Spray paint the oatmeal container and the tuna fish can to your desired color.

Before continuing on to the decorating, you may just want to see how your k-cups look sitting in the holder so far. They look fabulous!

There are limitless possibilities in which you can decorate your K-Cup holder. Ribbon wraps around the container here with a coffee cup image and strips of paper displaying a quote adhered securely. The word "sugar", on the can, is made up of self adhesive letters.

You may be wondering why there are not more spaces to hold more K-Cups. Reason being, is that the container may not have retained it's sturdiness if there were more holes. However if you open the lid, you can fit one of those slender plastic containers that the lemonade drink mixes come in to hold a few more k-cups!

If you make one please directly send me a picture from your Pinterest to mine so I can pin it! I am CatchACreation on Pinterest.
