Use Everyday Household Items to Make Special Days More Festive
This cute little flower pot (which was hand painted by my darling mom) has been with us for years!
The tissue paper covers the bottom of a Styrofoam ball which has about 50 lollipops stuck into it.
(Candy themes are always popular with kids and teens)
If only a plain pot is available then simply dress it up with a wide ribbon tied around it or use a thinner ribbon wrapped around like three separate times.
These ice cream dishes are a definite must in a home with ice cream lovers! The top of these dishes have a wavy border that I just adore.
Fill these babies with easy finger snacks like candy.
This black iron candle holder worked out perfectly to display the candy filled ice cream dishes!
Paper flowers on sticks were stuck into different things here and there like the center dish in the above picture.
A sweet decorative square cake plate was perfect to give the flower display a little bit of height. The simple design on the plate didn't take any attention away from the flowers that were in their own unique jars for display.
Three vases cleverly disguised the birthday gifts, well not totally, but enough.
Do this by wrapping the clothes (in this case) in tissue paper allowing some of the article to remain showing. Stick bottom portion into vase just enough to hold the item securely.
Don't be worried about using an item in non traditional ways. Try something different, if you really don't like it, try something else!
I would love to hear how you have used regular everyday items to decorate for a special occasion, tell me in your comments!
